Opening the cover over-the-top is smart for the Kindle because the left-hand 'Prev Page' button is hard/impossible to reach with your thumb when using the book-style covers (unless they, too, fold all the way back). With this style, you can open the cover all the way around the back, and hold it just like a kindle should be held.
I wish M-Edge would have used the built-in anchors on the kindle for holding it in the case, but I guess their method works.
I got my shipment scary-fast. I thought it would come Monday or Tuesday (by what the tracker said) and it came the Friday before.

I like this cover precisely because it does flip up and back rather than open to the side. It is easier to hold with two hands, one finger on the next button, and one finger on the back button. It is also easy to hold with one hand, especially because I am left-handed. Also, it can be set up as an easel. It is a sturdy case as well as attractive. I hope M-edge comes out with the book light that slips into the case soon- when I emailed them, they said one was in the works.

This cover is exactly as described. The cover flips up and over the top which is what I wanted. I am able to use it as an easel with no difficulty. With the cover folded back it is easy to reach the page controls on either the left or right sides, with a shorter reach on the right. Construction is flawless using what appears to be quality leather and careful precise stitching. The case provides excellent front and back protection with access to the charging port when closed. It is also possible to plug headphones in the top port and still close the case. I anticipate that this professional appearing "jacket" will adorn my Kindle 2 for many years. I am also ordering one for my wife's Kindle 2.

This cover meets my expectations for quality, appearance and utility for my Kindle 2. My criteria: Protect the device (especially when traveling), be able to use all of the functions without removing the device, mechanism for holding the device closed when not in use, cover folds out of way to maintain the Kindle profile when in use, and good quality material.
As with other M-edge product reviewers I found the quality of the external and "plush" internal leather to be in line with the price. This is a "hard case" in that the leather covers a hard core material, this gives more bulk but it provides the protection that I wanted.
I chose the top fold over the more conventional book type fold because I was concerned about the thickness of the leather in my left hand. This top fold is right for my small hands, the spine is only leather without the hard core and it does fold over completely (this is stiff at first but relaxes with use).
I can hold it comfortably and use both left and right controls with no problem.
As for the "easel" feature that wasn't on my list of criteria: At first I thought it didn't work because the Kindle tipped forward too much as I was sitting at a table trying to read hands free. Since the top fold is flexible I manipulated the cover so that the back angle to the table was unequal (smaller) than the angle for the front portion that the device. Think in terms of leaning the top of the device back.
At first I tried it with the leather tab engaged but it was too hard to get the correct angle. The edge leather has enough friction to grip the table and not slide out when "turning" the page on most surfaces so I tried it without the leather tab and it worked fine.
Perhaps M-edge can realign the leather tab anchors so that they allow the front to tip back at a comfortable reading angle when the leather tab is used in the easel position. The easel works great to hold the device in my lap.
This set up turns out to be a great additional feature for me, as a business woman traveling and eating alone it is so much easier to read "hands free."
Of course the extra width of the cover seems counter intuitive to the great streamline profile of the Kindle 2. It fits fine in my professional briefcase and larger handbags. I'm looking for a smaller case (probably without the same degree of firmness) for everyday use that will fit more of my smaller handbags.
Four stars instead of five because although this cover meets all of my form and function criteria, if you buy this for the easel feature you do have to spend the time with the extra manipulation to get the right angle for hands free reading.

I originally ordered the wrong style however had I looked alittle further I would have found the correct one! My mistake,should have been 5 stars!
