I have had this cover for my Kindle 2 for about 2 months now and I love it. It's very durable, folds back easily on itself and feels nice to hold in my hand. I can't wait for the light to come out, so I can fit it right in, but even without the light I really enjoy this cover. The only bad thing about it, is the fabric used on the inside, although it is soft, it feels like it could get pretty grubby over time. Mine isn't bad yet, but even after only two months I can tell that it will probably be pretty bad down the road.

I have the Amazon Kindle2 cover and I am pleased with it, but I was interested in purchasing an additional jacket cover that could be closed. So I was pleased to find this intelligently designed, not too expensive, closable cover.

This M-edge cover is about the same size as your average hardcover book. The cover is well padded on both the interior and exterior surfaces. The hinge system works well to secure the Kindle2, and there is the added protection of two corner restraining straps.

This cover is about an inch wider than the Amazon Kindle2 cover, so the Kindle2 sits well inside the cover edges. The cover strap slides securely into a corresponding pocket on the opposite cover.

The front cover freely folds back out of the way for comfortable reading. There is ample space for the various types of e-reader booklights. The Mighty Bright light fits just fine.

This item looks to be well made with attractive detail stitching and the

M-edge trademark placed unobtrusively on the back of the cover.

This is a good looking, utilitarian cover that should protect your Kindle2.

I bought this cover because I had the similar model for the K1. I love that my K2 fits securely in the slots and it is easy to hold while reading. It is a very attactive and functional cover. The "M-edge Prodigy Jacket" is a well made and good looking protective cover for the Kindle 2. Here are my observations:



Pros:

* The synthetic Leather is good looking and not "Pleatherish" at all

* The restraining strap on the cover works well

* Installing the Kindle 2 is quick and easy (see "Comments" for a link to the instructions on the M-Edge web page)

* Removing the Kindle 2 is also quick and easy

* Cover front folds back for one hand use (but see "Cons", below)

* Inside cover has pockets for business cards, etc

* All connectors and buttons are accessible



Cons:

* There is a lot of space between the Kindle 2 and the spine of the cover. I suspect this is to accommodate the M-Edge e-Luminator book light, shown in the picture, but NOT included. This extra space makes it a little harder for one hand use for those with small hands (not a problem for me).



Overall, this is good investment to protect your Kindle 2.

Three weeks after placing the order, it still had not arrived. When I attempted to cancel the order, I was unable to. The product finally arrived after one month of ordering it. Overall, the product is average. Since purchase, the strap has gotten loose and doesn't really keep the Kindle secure. I guess that has alot to do with the fact that leather stretches.

When I ordered this product, I expected to wait 6 weeks to ship; however, it arrived in a little over 2 weeks. What a pleasant surprise!



The Hinge Jacket arrives in fairly minimal packaging, adequate to protect the product, but not wasteful. The instructions to insert and remove the Kindle from the jacket are straightforward and clear.



This Jacket provides excellent protection for the Kindle 2, while being comfortable to use: it's rigid where it contacts the device, but its spine is soft and flexible for comfort. The strap keep the cover securely closed in my pack, and the right-side elastic corners hold the Kindle firmly to the back of the jacket - this case won't crack your Kindle like the Amazon case might.



A soft spine allows the jacket to fold over for comfortable one-handed reading, and there is space between the device and the spine for the forthcoming M-Edge reading light. While I found this space made operating the Kindle with my left hand more comfortable, this might be a challenge for those with tiny hands. Fortunately, the Kindle aligns nearly flush with the right-hand side of the jacket - if you have small hands, one-handed reading is best done with your right hand.



The only real criticism I have is that the closure strap is a little bit fussy at first. I had some irritation getting it properly secured, and a little bit more getting it to fold out of the way when reading. Spending a bit over a week with it, though, and the material relaxes - I no longer have this issue.



Overall, I am extremely pleased with this purchase.

I purchased my cover and received it in about a week and a half--faster than the estimated 3 weeks, which was a nice bonus. I was pleased with the overall construction, and I was especially glad with how well my Kindle fit inside. It locks in and stays in, with no give and no slippage. It's also well padded and solid enough to give my Kindle the complete protection I was hoping for, as well as the extra heft I wanted; after weeks of gingerly handling my reader while standing on a crowded subway train, I was glad to be able to now have a good, firm grip on it.



My primary quibble with the cover was with the strap--I wasn't sure what to do with it at first, but once I bent it backwards and slipped it in its slot, all was well. Getting the cover to bend back the way I wanted was also a problem at first, but after two days, my cover is properly broken in and bends the way I want it to.

Just received this cover today (in purple, but same model), about 3 weeks after ordering from Amazon. Granted, it was ordered before the product was even complete so I was ok with the wait. It is very similar in look and feel to a Dooney and Bourke pocketbook if you are familiar with them. It has a great leather smell, just like a new purse. And the additional room on the binder side (meant for the e-Luminator light - sold separately) gives you a nice place to hold the cover with the Kindle attached.



I love the hinge system, one of the main reasons I bought it. Coming from the K1, the original case Amazon provided was functional but the Kindle always fell out. So when Amazon improved the hinge for the K2, I knew I would only buy a case that had that feature. One word of note, I initially did not "lock" the K2 in the new m-edge case correctly and it almost fell out when I shook it (over a sofa) to test the support. Luckily the two straps on the top right and bottom right held it from falling. Then I discovered I had not closed the hinge enough and made sure the top hinge was securely pushed upwards to "lock it". Installation instructions are not included with the case (weird) but are available from m-edge online. Amazon won't let me post the url, but if you go to the buymedge website you can view the installation intructions.



The look and feel of the case is very professional. I am very happy with this purchase and do not expect to be taking the Kindle out of it very often. The only little issue I have is that the tab is a bit too snug when it needs to be slid into the cover to close. A snap might have been a bit easier. Still not enough of a con to drop the rating. But the tab does tuck away easily so as not to interfere while reading, which is nice.

I received my M-edge Prodigy cover yesterday, and am quite impressed with the quality. The workmanship is top notch, it's beautifully made.



The Kindle snaps right into the cover with a hinged system similar to the Amazon cover, with two corner straps on the right side.



I decided that I wanted a fancier cover than the standard cover available, and it was well worth the extra $15.

The cover arrived 7 days after the estimated delivery date and 3 weeks after the order was placed. The color wasn't quite the same as on screen, but that's probably inevitable. Most importantly, the cover wasn't made of leather! It was definitely imitation. They do sell an identical cover in imitation leather, so, perhaps, a mistake has occurred, but I have no way of knowing, and thus, will abstain from purchasing a new one from the same maker.

M-edge said that it would take 2-3 weeks to ship and then to allow another week for delivery, my cover arrived in under a week so not guarantees but don't let the shipping time scare you off.



The color is not as shiny and is little darker than shown. But it is a really nice blue. It would be really cool if they did one of their two color cases with this color as the main color and made the tab lime green.



The kindle fits in the case well, the kindles attachment system is very sturdy though the lever is a little stiff to take the kindle out of the case. If offers a good level of protection for the kindle, the case is nice and stiff but the cover will still fold over for reading. Because of the slot of M-edge's light there is a little bit of a gap between the edge of the kindle and the seam which looks a little weird at first as if they mean to to put a pen holder there. The leather feels nice and the closure system works well The interior pockets are a little bit tighter than they probably should be.



Its a really nice cover overall for the look feel, size and protection for your kindle.

I got the K2 and gave my Mom my K1(with both of my m-edge covers) so I needed a new cover. It is wonderful in so many ways but the leather is so stiff compared to my K1 covers. They could easily be folded back but that is not the case with this cover. It is well made and very secure, I would not hesitate to get another cover (I already have on on the way) but I would love for the leather to be a bit more pliable.

this is a good cover, the hinge locks into the kindle 2, and has storage for the m-edge light ( which is not yet available). my complaints are: there are no openings for the speakers if you use the speech to text option, and the inner flap on the case rubs the kindle 2 screen.it would also be nice for the light to be available to be certain it fits in the case with the kindle nicely.
